How to become a certified body piercer?
Ok so here’s the deal. I am 18 years old and I would love to become a certified body piercer and work in a shop. Body piercing is a HUGE passion of mine. I currently have 7 body piercings along with 12 ear piercings. My nose,eyebrow,labret,tongue,belly button and the last 4 holes in each ear I did myself. The only professional piercings I have are my nipples and the first two holes in each ear. I also used to have a monroe piercing which I took out, no infection or anything just got sick of it. Along with a bottom belly button piercing which migrated and got caught on my pants. None of my piercings had problems except the bottom belly button and I would love to pierce professionally how would I go about getting certified?
you can start with trying a good shop with a qualified piercer to train or apprentice you .. or you can call some of the training classes available there used to be one in san fransisco and 1 in new York.. i think they may be gone now .. fakir musifar (try google for this one) is the number one piercer in the world. or cliff craven in l.a.(at least he used to be..) check into the body mod mags and see whats available in your area. i own a shop in california and i have a really good piercer .. he was trained by an old employee and friend in washington.. he may do it for you too… you’d have to answer this and i will email you back if you’d like his info.. be prepared to go broke for at least a 3 month period. apprentices usually make no money till the trainer approves you to be let into the public.. most of the training involves cross contamination, skin knowledge,some mild biology, vein and artery knowledge so so on… if you cant concentrate on what they are teaching you , you will make some real big mistakes–so pay attention .. its not hard to do, it pays well and you’ll have fun for the most part.. good luck with it..
