Drainage and migration?

Can drainage through the navel piercing cause migration then rejection. How can you prevent your navel from draining or is this unlikely if the correct body bar is worn and the piercing is in the correct place? (This is what I read on Wikipedia) Also can drainage happen later on in life after the piercing?

I would make sure that you are cleaning it with salt water (non iodized or it will sting!) sounds like it might be infected!
