swelling body piercings

Do you think my body is not pierceable?
1st ear piercing – infected/swollen so I took them out
2nd time ear pierced – was swollen for more than a week after piercing, cleaned them everyday and it’s been 1yr 1/2 and it still gets infected.
Cartilage pierced – got a bump behind my ear so I took them out.
Navel pierced – the only piercing which didn’t infect, but when it was fully healed it started to migrate (ring getting closer to the skin like it’s gonna fall out)
Lip pierced – was swollen for more than 4 days so I got worried this might go wrong too so I just took them out.
Do you think I have the type of body where it just will not accept any foreign objects such as piercings? And should I risk getting my lip pierced again?
It might be the metal in the jewelry? I have to wear hypo-allergenic jewelery because of swelling as well. Typically sterling silver or gold is best. It’s expensive, but worth it in the long run.
Not sure what your cleaning regimen was/is, but limit your use of soap – it will dry and irritate your skin. Use something super gentle like a sea salt solution (no iodized salt).
As far as your lip piercing goes, you should probably see if maybe using a hypo-allergenic style piercing might help you first before taking the plunge again. Listen to what your body wants first and foremost.
*my 2 cents* As someone who has had facial piercings in the past, personally I don’t recommend them due to the scars. I haven’t had my facial piercings in for about 8 years and still have some minor scars that I’m not comfortable with, but that’s just me…
Good luck – be sure if you do get piercings again to do your research: find out what sort of side effects you could experience at the piercing site, make sure that the business you are using is clean and reputable and make sure to get a follow up care sheet and definitely read and follow the directions! Infections are serious business!
Days After Tongue Piercing – Yep. I FINALLY Got It Done!
