Why are some Christians against tattoos?

I know it says in Leviticus 19, which is not supposed to show our body, but receive Perforated ear not be on this list? And God is to say that things in the Old Testament are null and void? How do I tell my mother-in -law that I’m not piercing my 4 month olds ears??

She has been asking me when I plan to pierce her ears since the day she was born! I plan on waiting until she is old enough to ask me. It’s her body, therefore it’s her decision when she would like it done. She got her friend to buy my daughter some earrings and said “see now you have to pierce them!” Everytime she see’s us, she says ” so when are you gonna do it?!” or “you have to do it soon!” or “you better do it before she understands what pain is” Babies feel pain too! I don’t justify getting earrings for babies for vanity purposes. And frankly I am getting annoyed with her constantly asking me! I keep telling her I won’t do it until she is older, and it’s like talking to a brick wall. How do I get it through her thick skull!??!

You have to be as direct as you have to be. As the baby’s
grandmother,it’s not her call as to when the ears get pierced.
(Four months is a ridiculous age to even start thinking about
that,anyway.) If you let her nag about this,God knows what’s
next. This woman is family,but that doesn’t give her the right
to harass you about your baby-and if that’s what she’s doing,
you have the right to get angry even if she means well.

Your MIL sounds like a control freak. I was raised by one of
those and have first-hand experience. They have no sense of boundaries until you pound it into their heads emphatically
and clearly,spelled out in capital letters. It’s not a pleasant
experience but it is necessary to avoid unpleasantness in
the future. It’s better in the long run if you deal with her now.
