How do i make mum let me have body piercings?

Ok so its my 13th birthday soon. and i want some piercings. I’m not sure what i want but i was thinking either nose or belly-button maybe. Do you think i may be to young? I think Mum’s being unreasonable. How do i pursuade her?

In the adult world body piercings aren’t a trend like with children, they are more of a decoration to make you sexually appealing. You are 12 and honestly I wouldn’t even consider letting you have one until you are 14 and that would be on the condition that you picked which one you wanted and stuck with that choice and nagged me for months.

You sound like you want one just for the sake of having one because you don’t even know what type of piercing you want. Do your friends have them, because this sounds like your friends do and you want to have one too, meaning this is peer pressure and not your own desire.

Pick one. Consider it for a while and be sure that you want it and stick to your guns. She will cave, but only when you are a bit older and understand exactly what body piercings are for. You are too young to be making yourself attractive to adult men and i am sure that is what she is worried about. Perhaps if you showed her how level headed and mature you are and proved that you wanted it for yourself rather than to be cool, she would be more willing to consider it.

You also have to remember that if you take it out, you WILL have a scar. If it gets infected, you will have a bigger scar and run the risk of septicaemia.
