But I’ve had mine pierced 3 times, and this happened every time.
They put a really long bar in for the first couple of weeks since your tongue swells up heaps, and the long bar allows for the swelling. Mine were all too long to sit comfortably, so they would stick into the soft part at the bottom of your mouth. It was really painful. However, the swelling should go down in the next few days, and then MAKE SURE you go back and get a smaller bar. Keep changing it every week until your tongue is back to its normal thickness, and make sure the bar is PERFECTLY fittes: like the balls sit on each surface of your tongue and you cant see any of the bar. If you can see some bar, it’s too long.
This will protect your teeth as well as stop that pain you’re feeling.
Also get a plastic one to protect your teeth.
The pain you’re felling now is normal (well, as normal as you can be after having some metal shoved through your body) and Im hurting just thinking about it!!!
Its pretty hard to get your tongue infected because saliva has so many protective qualities. But rinse with an antibacterial mouthrinse or at least mix up a salt+water solution and swish it.
If there’s pus or the swelling doesn’t go away in a week, go to the doctor. Good luck!
