Interview Attire Tips

Hi all,

Interview Attire is very important to get through professional interviews. Professional dress is not just about clothing, but an overall appearance. Mostly the first impression is made by a better appearance.

We suggest you to impress the employer with your look and also take care that your clothes should not upstage you in an interview. All attention should be on your interview presentation, not on your clothing and accessories. The following are dress requirements needed for formal interview attire, as well as suggestions on how to achieve an overall professional look.

Men should wear a well fit pair of dark trousers and the shirt needs to be a long-sleeve and preferably in a solid color or straight stripe pattern. The tie can be solid color, stripe pattern or can have a small print. however, the overall appearance should be conservative. Socks need to be a dark solid or a small pattern. Shoes need to be leather. Women should wear a well-tailored Indian suit in colors, two piece dress and  saree. (In the case of suited skirt knee length or slightly below the knee preferred and preferably plain is fine) and try to be more conservative. Wear low to medium leather, heeled shoes. Never wear open toe shoes. We always suggest you to dress formal and conservative dress. It is better to be overdressed than underdressed.

Keep the hair nice and neat and there is no specific hairstyle recommendation. Ensure the make up look more natural and less flashy. For men a neat shave is mandatory and for the ones in beards, kindly trim along with the facial hair neatly. Nails should be clean and manicured and the women avoid nail polish. Do not wear strong perfume and cologne as many people are allergic to that and wear only a conservative jewels. If you have any type of tattoos or body piercing, consider how it will be perceived during a first impression. In fact, there are many organizations where having a visible tattoo or body piercing is unacceptable and may eliminate you as a candidate.

Avoid bringing backpack; it is fine to bring in a professional looking work bag, briefcase or attaché to

an interview to carry necessary items. Women – only bring in a purse or a briefcase, not both. Never take a cell phone into an interview. If needed either switch off or turn to silent mode. A notebook to take notes, when needed or use a portfolio notebook that includes a notepad, penholder, file pocket and business card holder along with a good pen or pencil.

Always ensure at least one copy of your resume and list of your references.

Thanks – All the BEST
